Seskin Wind Farm is a consented c.50MW project to the northwest of Old Leighlin in Co. Carlow. It could consist of up to 7 turbines and power more than 36,000 homes.

The project was granted planning permission by An Coimisiún Pleanála in November 2025, and you can view the details for the wind farm here, and the grid route here.

Following the grant of planning permission, the wind farm is expected to be constructed and operational in 2029.

Site layout

The proposed site for Seskin Wind Farm is located in the townlands of Seskinrea and Ridge.

The layout has been designed with a minimum setback distance of 720m to the nearest house from each turbine, in accordance with the Draft Wind Energy Development Guidelines (2019) which propose a setback distance of four times tip height.

The project will also include access tracks, a substation, battery storage containers, a temporary construction compound, a permanent meteorological mast, underground cabling and a grid connection which links the wind farm to the national electricity grid.
