EDF Power Solutions is delighted to announce that the Porth Wen Solar Farm Community Fund is officially open for applications from local charities and community groups across Cemaes and Amlwch. The fund is managed by Menter Môn, with funding decisions made by a panel of local people, ensuring that investments truly reflect community needs and priorities. Applications for this year’s fund will be accepted until June 19, 2026.

Building on a legacy of positive local impact, last year the fund successfully backed a diverse range of initiatives, including community events, vibrant arts projects, and crucial refurbishments of local amenities. These investments directly contribute to the social fabric and infrastructure of the host communities.

This year, Porth Wen Solar Farm also proudly supported and sponsored the hugely successful Urdd Eisteddfod on Ynys Môn. The festival, which recently concluded, was celebrated as the ‘greenest Urdd to date,’ experiencing record-breaking weather. The clean energy generated by Porth Wen Solar Farm undoubtedly played a role in powering the festival’s activities. Congratulations to all participants and organisers for such a positive and environmentally conscious event.

The £24,000 fund comprises the annual £20,000 Community Benefit Fund provided by EDF power solutions of which £10,000 is assigned to local schools, plus an additional £4,000 carried over from last year.

Lewis Gray, Porth Wen Project Manager at EDF power solutions, commented:

“We are incredibly proud to open applications for the Porth Wen Solar Farm Community Fund once again. Seeing the positive difference these grants make is hugely rewarding. The recent Urdd Eisteddfod, powered in part by clean energy from the site via the grid, is another fantastic example of local impact.”

Lewis added: “We strongly encourage all eligible local charities and community groups in Cemaes and Amlwch to visit the Menter Môn website and submit their applications.”
